Tattoo After Care Instructions

LEAVE YOUR BANDAGE ON FOR A MINIMUM OF 1 HOUR:

Leave the wrapping on for a minimum of 1 hour and no longer than 4 or 5 hours. DO NOT REAPPLY BANDAGE/WRAP!

AFTER REMOVAL OF BANDAGE, WASH THOROUGHLY WITH HOT WATER:

After removal of bandage wash thoroughly with hot water and with liquid, unscented, ANTIBACTERIAL soap. (Gold Dial, Equate, etc...)

PAT DRY WITH A CLEAN PAPER TOWEL:

Pat dry with a clean paper towel and let air dry for at least 10-15 minutes before applying aftercare.

APPLY A THIN LAYER OF PRODUCT:

Apply a THIN layer of tattoo aftercare product (AQUAPHOR, HUSTLE BUTTER, etc.) enough to smoothly cover the entire tattoo, massaging it into the skin like lotion. We do not recommend A&D ointment because of its high petroleum content, preventing the skin from being able to breathe and heal properly. The skin needs to be able to breathe to avoid clogging pores, healing inefficiencies, etc.

KEEP YOUR TATTOO CLEAN WITH SOAP AND WATER:

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF HEALING YOUR TATTOO IS KEEPING IT CLEAN WITH SOAP AND WATER. Wash with hands only, as wash cloths and such may be too rough for the skin. We recommend a minimum of 2-3 washes a day, however, the more active you are throughout the day, the more frequently you should wash.

REPEAT THIS PROCESS FOR A WEEK OR TWO:

Continue to keep the tattoo moisturized. Letting the skin dry out will delay the healing process while scabbing may be more prone to appear. If scabbing does start to appear, this is nothing to worry about, as you should let them fall off on their own. DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT THEM!!

DURING THE HEALING PROCESS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:

  • NO SUN

  • NO SWIMMING POOLS

  • NO JACUZZIS

  • NO OCEAN

No soaking in water of any kind as tattoos can be highly susceptible to infection.

AFTER YOUR TATTOO IS HEALED:

Use sunblock or unscented lotion (at least a month before using scented product) to keep the tattoo looking fresh longer.
